Big news! We’re testing a new WOD tracking system that may eventually supplement or even replace Beyond the Whiteboard. It’s called SocialWOD.com.
Here’s how it works: Each night we email a copy of our whiteboard picture to SocialWOD. Their program scans the image and automatically uploads our data. Their program tracks each individual athlete’s times for the workout and if they RX’d it or set a PR. Meanwhile, it automates our attendance tracking, saving us loads of time and energy (Yahoo!).
SocialWOD can be used just like BeyondTheWhiteboard.com on your end. It’s just missing some of the extra bells and whistles that you’ll find on BTWB. It doesn’t have any power output calculations, meal tracking, journal entries, or any of that extra stuff that sometimes rarely gets used. Once an athlete claims their profile, they can edit their workouts, post theirĀ own workouts, set goals, and track their progress. You can also sync your account with Facebook, just like we do with BTWB.
The biggest difference for you guys is that you won’t be able to add scaling notes or edit your workout posts until the day after the WOD.
Once the whiteboard photo is uploaded (usually within 12-24 hours), you’ll be able to log-in and check out your results. There will be a link to the newly uploaded WOD on our website and facebook page. You can edit the results, add notes, even delete them entirely and input your own personal entry (which you’ll want to do if you did a different WOD than the rest of the group that day).
One issue that we’ve already noticed is that, because SocialWOD is an automated computer program, it’s not always 100% accurate. But that shouldn’t be a problem if you’re logging in to track your scores. You can always edit the score, change the time, add an RX or PR mark if needed, or delete the post entirely.
We’re still testing SocialWOD out and probably will be for another month or so. To figure out if this program is right for CFI, we need your help.
Please go to crossfitintensify.socialwod.com. This is our box’s socialwod page. Please click on the “claim your profile…” link and find yourself in the list of athletes. Once your “athlete claim” is confirmed by us, your profile will be active and you can start testing the program out. After a week or two, please send us some feedback. What do you like? What do you not like about SocialWOD? We’ll need to hear from you guys before making any big changes. Thanks for your help!
