Hang Squat Snatch – Tuesday
Tuesday’s WOD
Hang Squat Snatch 5-5-3-3-1-1
Today’s an Olympic Lifting day. The Olympic lifts (the snatch and the clean & jerk) are arguably the most complex and challenging movements in CrossFit. It takes a long time and constant practice to master them. Just ask the Olympians that train their entire lives doing these two movements and variations of them. But still, anyone can do these exercises. Remember, the needs of Olympians and our grandmothers differ by degree, not kind. A workout like today’s is a perfect example of this. The snatch and today’s variation, the hang squat snatch, will help anyone develop skills necessary for great all-around fitness. In fact, the Oly Lifts are unparalleled in their ability to develop a wide range of skills: strength, power, speed, coordination, balance, accuracy, agility, and flexibility. Skip a day like today and you lose an opportunity to find and start fixing your weaknesses, a critical step in improving your fitness. Come focused and ready to learn and you’ll take a huge step forward in reaching your goals.
Dudes, we’re cooking for the ladies for this Saturday’s Battle of the Sexes Paleo Potluck Party. What’s everyone bringing?! To start picking a dish, google some paleo recipes or check out Paleo: Intensified (follow the link to the right). We also have an awesome Paleo Comfort Foods cookbook you can sift through at the box. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated, but please do not bring a bowl of almonds. We can do better than that. So far we’ve got a lot of guys cooking meat. Any volunteers to bring salads/appetizers? When you’ve chosen your dish, please post to Intense Friends so the others know not to bring the same thing.
